Switzerland 21 in private binding

8 Mar 2006

There is a Switzerland 21 (1885) for sale at the moment. An eagle-eyed visitor has spotted that the binding is almost certainly not original - look at the pattern on the front, as well as the subtly different title font. Nonetheless the binding looks very professional, as well as old - so it could be an interesting book to bid for - if only for being different.

It also raises the question about apostrophes - most covers of editions in German seem to show the company name without an apostrophe "Baedekers whatnot"; but some of them - including the one on our homepage - do have an apostrophe "Baedeker's wherever". No obvious rule for which are which seems to spring to mind - any ideas?
