Stats at 7000 auction results

17 May 2006

We now have 7,021 successful online auctions recorded here at bdkr.com, resulting from 12,141 auctions started, so the success ratio (i.e., auctions resulting in a sale) has fallen somewhat to 57.8% (it was as high as 58.3% in December, and 58.0% in February).

The number of successful auctions recorded increased slightly to 319 per month (after 6,000 auctions, about 316).

We have now seen 842 different editions in at least one successful sale (up from 825 last time). There are 1030 different editions and versions in the database, so fewer than 200 have not sold on eBay or other online auction houses in the last two years. 109 editions have a single sale only. (There are however two hitherto unseen editions in auction at the time of writing: Berlin 4 (1885) and Allemagne du Sud et Autriche 10 (1893).)

Generalgouvernment remains the most sold edition, with 56 sales (last time 47), followed as before by Great Britain 7 (1910) with 54 sales (last time 45). Belgium and Holland 15 (1910) is in third place with 50. Not much change there. The best-selling French edition is Sud-Est de la France 9 (1910), in 13th position with 34 sales.

The total sale price for the 7021 books was €226,861.833, giving an average price of €32.31 (slightly down from €32.39 last time). If all the books had gone for their BDKR guideline price, the total sales would have been €548,890, so the ratio has fallen back ever so slightly to 41.3% (41.5% last time).

The final piece of potentially misleading statistic this time is that the average number of bids per sold book is 5.7 - if that's of any help to you! :-)
