Rhine 1906 - for $281 - Updated

Well now I have seen everything - a copy of Rhine 16 (1906) just sold for US$281!

I am at a loss to explain why this particular copy should have attracted 18 bids and have gone to such an astronomical level. Sure, it was a nice copy with a very good dustjacket - but these things normally go for a tenth of that, or less. Even I have a copy of that edition... I almost didn't include the result in the database, since it causes such a distortion to the average - but then, if it is a proper result then it would also be wrong to exclude it.

If anybody can throw any light on what made that book go for that price, I should be very interested. Here's the link to the actual auction.

It appears the auction has been removed by eBay - probably there was something fishy about the bidding. I have therefore removed the entry from the database.
