You may well wonder what this news item is doing here, but it's just a reflection on the durability of the Baedeker brand.

In the latest Newsweek, there is a look at Greenspan's legacy. Apparently, he was paid an advance of $8.5 million for his memoirs, which are described as "half autobiography and half economic Baedeker". What other 1830's bookseller-publisher's name lives so strongly in current usage? Indeed, how many brands of this age are there in any industry, I wonder...
