Stats at 13,000

So now we are at 13,010 successful auctions in the database, resulting from 24,067 auctions started, giving us a success ratio (i.e., auctions resulting in a sale) of 54.1%, just as last time. The number of successful auctions per month has recently increased and is now approaching 318, from 315 last time. This number had been stable at 315 for a long time and this is perhaps the most interesting change in this stats update.

There are 1049 different editions and variants listed separately at BDKR.com (but there will soon be more, once I get round to splitting up the Manuals of Conversation and some further housekeeping). Of those 927 (918 after 12,000 sales) have appeared in at least one successful sale. Of those, 103 (104) have appeared once only. As you may know, three of the editions listed were never issued (D99, D134 and D185), so there are now only 119 editions which have never had a sale recorded here.

Generalgouvernement is, as ever, the most sold edition, now at 109 sales (last time 101). Among the English-language editions, Great Britain 7 (1910) is now in the lead with 90 sales (80), having overtaken Belgium and Holland 15 (1910) on 88 sales (81) and Italy from the Alps to Naples 2 (1909) with 86 (80). The best-selling French edition is as before Sud-Est de la France 9 (1910), now in shared 41st position (37th), on 44 sales (43). Of the 13,010 books, 5595 (43%) were in German, 5541 (42.6%) in English and 1868 (14.4%) in French (plus 6 'S' edition books). In other words, out of seven sold books, three are in German, three in English and one in French.

The total sale price for the books was €480,794.86, giving an average price of €36.96, pretty much stable since last time. If all the books had gone for their BDKR guideline price, the total sales would have been €1,091,625, so the ratio is continuing to edge down to 44.0% from the previous 44.2%.

The average number of bids per sold book remains at 5.4. As ever, please take these figures with a good helping of salt!
