| News itemsPrague, Constantinople12 Jun 2005 So I'm back from a short trip to Prague - business unfortunately, not much time for sightseeing (and in any event, I note in horror that my copy of Österreich 25 has had the map of Prague cut out! It was very pleasant though, and I had a good walk round the major sights on Thursday evening. Good food - and beer! (Pilsner Urquell, which really is the real thing) - at "U dvou kocek" [The c should have a caron over it, but this appears too much for the HTML...]. I think this means "The two cats" - which is a pity in that, had it meant "The two blackbirds" (which I think might be "U dvou kosi") then the place would have been mentioned in my Baedeker - the "Zwei Amseln" in Herrengasse 4. Oh well, all the sights mentioned are still there, as the city was saved from major destruction during the wars of the 20th century - it's well worth a visit. Having come back, I have also noticed that both editions (1, 2) of Konstantinopel are in auction at the moment. | |||||||||
