Stats at 12,000

25 Sep 2007

We have got to 12,064 successful auctions in the database, resulting from 22,316 auctions started, so the success ratio (i.e., auctions resulting in a sale) is yet again down slightly, to 54.1% from 54.2% last time. The number of successful auctions per month has stabilised at around 315.

Thanks to the addition of the S series, we now have 1049 different editions and variants listed separately at BDKR.com (1030 before). Of those 918 (907) have now occurred in at least one successful sale. Of those, 104 (111) have appeared once only. As regular visitors know, three of the editions listed were never issued (D99, D134 and D185), so there are only 131 editions which have never had a sale recorded here.

Generalgouvernement is, as ever, the most sold edition, now at 101 sales (last time 90). Belgium and Holland 15 (1910) with 81 sales (73) has pulled away from Italy from the Alps to Naples 2 (1909) and Great Britain 7 (1910), both on 80. The best-selling French edition is as before Sud-Est de la France 9 (1910), now in 37th position (36th), on 43 sales (40). Of the 12,064 books, 5200 were in German, 5116 in English and 1745 in French (plus 3 'S' edition books).

The total sale price for the books was €446,103.54, giving an average price of €36.98, down from €37.21 last time. If all the books had gone for their BDKR guideline price, the total sales would have been €1,009,825, so the ratio is continuing down to 44.2% from the previous 44.6%, but then there haven't been any amazingly expensive books sold recently.

The average number of bids per sold book has dropped ever so slightly to 5.4, which is almost certainly without significance and, like all the other figures here, should be taken more for amusement value than as real science!
