| News itemsAn unusual Baedeker product4 Dec 2008 As well-read Baedeker fans will know, Karl B.'s business was that of a publisher/book-dealer, selling not just travel guides, but also other kinds of books for which he could find a market. One area where he was particularly active was schoolbooks. Here we have a nice copy of a History- and Geography-book for the senior school, by Wilhelm Pütz and as published for the Royal School in Passau (which, by the way, is a very special city of Bavaria in a lovely situation at the confluence of three rivers). It's not one of the great collectibles but would make a very nice addition to a set of Baedekeriana. UPDATE: Dr Laurence Boyle points out that, presumably, the books were shipped unbound from Coblence to Passau and bound there in the school's standard binding. That makes sense! | |||||||||
