Stats - 25,000 auctions

Well, we now have more than 25,000 records of completed sales from eBay and other sites in the BDKR database; a bit of a milestone. But, we will not change standard practice in respect of the statistics - here are the changes since 24,000 sales:

We have 25,002 sales, resulting from 51,426 auctions started, so the success ratio (i.e., auctions resulting in a sale) is 48.62%, still trending downwards. The number of successful auctions per month continues to fall, and is now at 259.9, from 264.6 after 24,000 sales.

There are 1051 different editions and variants listed separately at BDKR.com. Of those 960 have appeared in at least one successful sale, no change since last time. Of the 960 editions seen, 57 (59) have appeared once only.

The most sold edition is, as before, Great Britain 7 (1910) with 205 sales (197 last time). Generalgouvernment remains the most sold German edition and stands at 193 sales (last time 184). The best-selling French edition is as before Sud-Est de la France 9 (1910), still on 82 sales. Of the 25,002 books, 11,012 (44.1%) were in German, 10,720 (42.9%) in English and 3270 (13.1%) in French. This is a slight reduction on the French proportion, but it remains a steady rule, as it has from inception, that out of seven sold books, three are in German, three in English and one in French.

The total sale price for the books was €805,379.43, giving an average price of €32.21, which continues the slowly falling trend. If all the books had gone for their BDKR guideline price, the total sales would have been €2,022,780, so the ratio stands at 39.8%. (Note that we had a change of the BDKR guideline prices since last time; had we stayed with the original guidelines, the ratio would have been 38.9%.)

The average number of bids per sold book is steady at 5.1. As ever, just treat these stats as a bit of fun - my statistics training is non-existent. The stats also appear in shortened form every day on the stats page. If you'd like some other data, please feel free to ask!
