3000 sales records in the database

19 Jul 2005

We have just reached the 3000th successful auction result recorded in the BDKR.com database. This from a total of 5241 auctions started, which means that 57.2% of all online auctions of Baedekers result in a sale (however, this does not include "BuyItNow" results or similar). When we last did this exercise, after 2000 sales, the corresponding figure was 56.5%.

Auction results started to be recorded on 17 July last year, so we are now almost exactly up to 250 results per month, on average. (Last time, 230 - so the number of items offered - or alternatively, the number of items that we find - has gone up quite a bit.)

725 of the total of 1015 separate editions and variants currently recorded have been sold during the year (up from 625 of 992). The most frequently occurring edition is Belgium and Holland 15 (1910), with 24 sales. Last time's leaders Italy from the Alps to Naples 2 and The Mediterranean have a mere 18 and 19 each, respectively.

The most expensive sale recorded by us is still the copy of Belgien 5, which went for EUR2111.00.

The total sale value was EUR90,794.70 so the average price is EUR30.26 (last time, EUR29.80); the total BDKR guideline price of the editions sold would have been EUR224,030 so the average edition in auction still goes for 41% of the BDKR guideline price (but don't take too much notice of these latter statistics...).
